FAQs

Questions we hear a lot.

Honest answers to the things people wonder before they show up.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free. There are no membership fees, session fees, or donations required to participate. If you're able to support us financially, we're grateful — but it's never a condition.

Who is it for?

Anyone affected by cancer in the Netherlands — patients at any stage, survivors, caregivers, partners, parents, and friends. All nationalities and backgrounds are welcome. You don't need to speak Dutch.

Is it confidential?

Yes. We take confidentiality seriously. What's shared in our groups and conversations stays within those spaces. We don't share your details with anyone outside CSN without your explicit consent.

Do I have to share anything?

Never. You can attend events and groups without saying a word. Many people just listen for the first few sessions — or longer. Listening is participating.

Is it a therapy group?

No. We're a peer support community — people who understand what it's like, because they've been there. We're not a clinical service, and we don't replace professional mental health support.

Do you offer medical advice?

No. CSN is a peer support community and does not provide medical advice. For medical questions, we encourage you to speak with your healthcare team.

I don't have cancer, but someone close to me does. Can I still join?

Absolutely. Many of our members are partners, family members, friends, and caregivers looking for support, understanding, and connection with others in a similar situation.

I've finished treatment. Is CSN still for me?

Yes. Life after treatment can bring its own challenges and questions. Many of our members are cancer survivors looking for connection, understanding, and ongoing support.

What types of cancer do you support?

All cancer types. Whether you have a common or rare diagnosis, you'll find people who understand the emotional and practical challenges that cancer can bring.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes. Caregivers, partners, and family members are always welcome alongside the person they're supporting — or on their own. There are people here who know what the other side of a diagnosis feels like too.

Do I need to live in a specific city?

No. While many of our events take place in Amsterdam, Utrecht, and The Hague, anyone living in the Netherlands is welcome. We also offer online opportunities to connect.

What happens at a meet-up?

Our events are relaxed and informal. Some people come to talk, others come to listen. There is no pressure to share personal information, and everyone participates at their own comfort level.

Can I attend just once?

Of course. There's no commitment. You're welcome to join a single event or become a regular member of the community.

What if I don't know anyone there?

Most people come to their first event without knowing anyone. That's exactly why CSN exists — to help people find connection, understanding, and community when they need it most.

How can I support CSN?

You can support us by volunteering, helping spread the word, attending events, sharing your story, or making a donation if you wish. Every form of support helps us reach more people affected by cancer.

Still have a question?

Just ask.

You can email us directly, or we can arrange a quick call. No forms, no process.
